Baked pasta has been one of my favorite foods since childhood. They are also really simple to prepare. Combined with tuna, a base of root vegetables in a tomato sauce and a good layer of several types of cheese, you will simply love this dish!

Difficulty simple

Ingredients

200 g pasta (I recommend penne or rigattoni)

160 g tuna in its own juice

Zucchini

Chilli pepper

The Onion

Dried tomatoes

Cherry tomatoes

Tomato sauce

Olive oil

Salt, freshly ground pepper, Italian herbs

30 g grated cheddar cheese

30 g grated mozzarella

Basil for garnish

Tomato puree for a more intense flavour

Method

  1. Preparing the pasta: Start by cooking the pasta according to the instructions on the package. The pasta should ideally be 'al dente'.
  2. Fry the vegetables: In the meantime, heat olive oil in a medium-sized pan and fry the chopped vegetables - zucchini, chilli, onion, dried and cherry tomatoes (or simply use whatever you have at home). Fry until the vegetables are golden.
  3. Adding the sauce and tuna: Add the tomato sauce to the sautéed vegetables and stir. Then stir in the tuna (I put it in without the juice or for a more intense flavor I recommend trying Rio Mare Natura, which is without the brine and more flavorful).
  4. Baking: transfer the entire mixture to a baking dish and sprinkle evenly with grated cheese. For an even richer flavor, you can add a layer of tomato puree. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for about 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese has browned and formed a beautiful golden crust.
  5. Finish: After removing from the oven, let rest for a while. Before serving, sprinkle with fresh basil.
